The Section of Legal Assistance for Foreigners (SLAF), predecessor of our section, was founded in November 2010 as the first group of professionals who specialize in providing legal assistance to foreign residents in Japan. Subsequently, in October 2012, the Foreigners and International Service Section (FISS) was established with its headquarters in Minato-ku, near the Tokyo Immigration Bureau.
